Well, this is what happens when you can't sleep and you found out something really cool you can do on your computer (thanks to K and her SIL!) I was playing with this and this is just a really short video I whipped up in like 30 minutes. So, I didn't spend a whole lot of time on it...but it was a trial...and it's not half bad for a trial...this is so gonna be bad that I know this now!
You all will have seen most of these pics, but since I was just playing and since my next trip to Florida is only in like 20 days, I thought I'd go with these. :)

I Love New Things!!!
So, today I got something new. I've been wanting it for a long time as I've been tired of looking at this old thing ever since I got it. It just simply didn't match. So what is it that I hated?

My kitchen table. It was awful as a kitchen table. It was "wicker" with a glass top table and rolly chairs with pastel colored seat cushions. It would be perfect if you had a condo at the Lake or in Florida or something...but in my house, as a real kitchen table...it simply didn't jive.
So, I'd been on the lookout for something that would match my kitchen and I finally found it. And it's all thanks to my in laws and their wonderful furniture store. (God I love that they sell furniture. Once they stop, I'm gonna be in a world of hurt! I get my furniture so cheap from them!)
I wanted a new table for one other reason (besides the fact that it didn't match) and that was because my old kitchen table only had seating for 4. Since our families are growing now and since I'm probably having Christmas this year...I wanted a place for the whole family to sit down together and eat. And there was no way that was happening at either of the 2 tables I'd already had (I have a "decorative" table in my "dining" room).
So now...without further adieu...my brand spanking new kitchen table! (It's sad when you get excited about a kitchen table...it's a definite sign you're an adult! lol!):
It's a good thing my kitchen is big because this table is HUGE! It's a butterfly leaf table though, so I can get it down really easy. And the other thing was it's a high top table...but I think I'll be able to live with that. The only weird thing is walking in my kitchen right now and seeing this huge, tall thing instead of my short little old table. I'm sure I'll get used to it. :)
This last picture, I'm just throwing in because I found it on my camera and I love it...it has absolutely nothing to do with the table.
They're so cute when they're sleeping. :)

Baby Shower #2
So, Wednesday, my mother in law and I threw my sister in law a second baby shower. This was my first attempt at having a party like this...so I was kinda anxious about the whole deal. In all though, I think it went really well. I think people had a decent time and enjoyed the food, which to me, is that part that mattered.
So, Tuesday evening, I spent a good portion of it cooking my famous chicken salad. I'm glad I decided to do it Tuesday evening, b/c if I would have put it off until Wednesday, I would have simply run out of time.
On Wednesday, my mother in law came over around 12 and we went to lunch. Then we came back and got to business. I had 5 hours to get everything ready. And first on my list was cupcakes. I wanted to make pink cupcakes with chocolate icing and chocolate cupcakes with pink icing. I got the cupcakes done...now here came the icing part. I didn't want to just spread the icing on with a knife. I wanted them to look somewhat decent, so I bought those cake decorator bags. Well, this was my first attempt with them...and let me tell you...they are MESSY!!!! However, once I got the hang of it, my cupcakes actually ended up looking really, really nice. My hands however, were a completely different story!
The cupcakes took a good portion of the afternoon though. I helped decorate the house a little in my spare time and helped with the part that my MIL was doing, the vegetable tray and putting the sandwiches together. Finally though, it was time to work on my last masterpiece for the evening. My chocolate fountain. I got this fountain from a friend for Christmas and thought it would be perfect. I bought strawberries, bananas, marshmallows, and graham crackers and I was really excited about being able to use it. We ran into some snafus with it...the chocolate wouldn't pour down the fountain, but as the party was just getting underway, the chocolate started pouring. :)
The house was decorated in all pinks and girly. (Since my SIL is having a girl) We had a tea set on my table with a doll and a pink elephant having tea on a blanket. We had pink tablecloths and baby signs everywhere. It wasn't real showy, but I think we did a classy job.
Finally, the guests arrived. I got quite a few compliments on my chicken salad and people seemed to really be excited about the chocolate fountain. And the cupcakes were a big hit too! So I think my part went over really well. People also kept mentioning how nice my house was...so that made me feel good too. I've worked really hard on it to look modernish (it's over 50 years old...hard to make that seem modern) and the other funny thing is that people were really interested in my wedding pictures. lol! They all kept looking at them.
Finally, Emily arrived. We had tried to keep it a secret the whole time, but unfortunately, someone had spilled the beans to her that day, leaving her a message saying they weren't going to be able to make it. (Doh!) Oh well, it lasted up until that day...which is a big deal. Emily likes to know EVERYTHING that goes on. She's a very "showery" person and can't relax until she has them out of the way. I don't necessarily understand that...but that's just me. I'm way more relaxed about that kind of thing.
She got a lot of nice gifts too. A lot of things I know she'll be able to use. I gave her a white frame with a pink mat with KATIE spelled out in it. I think she liked it. At least I hope she did! :)
Anyway, for my first big party (15 people showed up), I don't think my MIL and I did too bad. And that's all that matters. It was a first attempt...and the first attempt didn't go horribly wrong. Everything seemed to move just as it should...so in my opinion...it was a success. I hope Emily enjoyed herself though. Now, we just have to wait for the baby. A few months left to go. :)

A Nice Weekend
You know...sometimes, what you need in life is a weekend away. You don't realize it until you're gone just how much. This, was such a weekend.
This past weekend, WHF and I took a trek up to Chicago. Basically, it was a cheap trip as all we really had to pay for was gas money, since our hotel stay (thank you to WHF's job) and our Six Flags season passes took care of the rest. (We get in for free then at any Six Flags theme park throughout the country...and can you believe that a one day ticket in Chicago is the cost of our season pass here?!)
Anyway, so we left on Friday afternoon/early evening. WHF drove b/c I didn't feel like driving the whole way there. We were gonna leave earlier in the afternoon, but WHF didn't get home in time. So, by the time we were on the road it was like 6:00 pm. We had good time up to Chicago though...only took us 5 hours...then we hit the construction that always seems to be happening. Finally, we got to our hotel, a place we've stayed before and is relatively nice.
So Saturday, we decided to sleep in b/c we'd both gotten up so early that past week. We got to Six Flags around 1 pm. (Although we would have gotten there earlier if WHF hadn't forgotten to bring shirts with him...men...)
We rode most of the big coasters. Iron Wolf, which is a stand up coaster and Raging Bull, their big grandaddy coaster are probably two of my favorites from the day. When we came into the park that day, we found out they had a new coaster they had just built. It was a family style coaster that was all indoors and themed around The Dark Knight movie. Oh and it had humongous waits the entire day.
Finally, we decided to buck it up and wait in line. It was a really, really long wait. One hour and a half later, we were finally through the automatic door when...wait...where's the coaster? Well, this is weird for a Six Flags theme park...it's a preshow. And it's an interesting one on top of it. Finally we got to the ride and it was neat, not worth an hour and a half wait, but cool none the less. I'd do it again when the lines die down. I do have to admit though...this is one of the closest attraction to a Disney attraction that Six Flags has ever done. Once you got through the doors, it was very themed, especially for a Six Flags park.
After that, we couldn't take anymore lines, so we left for the day and went back to the hotel to get in the hot tub. After "relaxing" there for a bit (the best you can with a group of 13 year old soccer girls all around us yelling and screaming) we just hung out around the hotel lobby. I got a cookie and WHF got a beer and we just relaxed. Finally, we went to bed early.
The next day, we went back to Six Flags...since we could for free. We went with the sole purpose to ride Superman...a ride in which you fly like Superman, facing the ground. It's an intense ride and it scares the bejesus out of me every time I get on it. So, we did that and a few other coasters and finally it was time to go home. But not before we had dinner.
For dinner, we went to Giordano's...one of the best Chicago pizza places. They have amazing pizza and pretty darn good mozzarella sticks!!!
After that...it was the nice 5 hour trek back home.
It really was nice to be able to take that short trip, but it just reminded me how much I need a real vacation. Staying in the hotel and everything got me so jazzed up about our trip next month. I really, really can't wait!

Baby Showers
Well, last night, I went to my SIL's baby shower. It was just your average baby shower...nothing too exciting. The theme was ducks. So my SIL got everything ducky under the sun. I'm not sure I understand why they did the duck theme and not something girly girly. I mean, they know the sex. I can see doing ducks if you don't know...(or maybe if it's a boy) but they definitely know it's a girl. Guess I'm just weird and would want to get a bunch of pink stuff. lol! Although, since they plan on having more than one...they can reuse all the duck stuff if they have a boy. Me, since I know I'm only having 1, it won't matter.
My mother in law and I are throwing a shower for her next week. It's next Wednesday. We'll see how that goes. I wasn't planning on making it real elaborate, but after seeing last night's and the way it was set up so cute, I might consider decorating a little at least.
We will definitely be having better food at ours though. Last night's dinner was awful. I didn't know it was possible to screw up spaghetti, but apparently, there is. We plan on serving little sandwiches, maybe things like mini quiches, and my favorite parts, the cupcakes I plan on making and the chocolate fountain! I think Emily will like that. I hope she enjoys our shower.
It still amazes me this little girl...whom they're naming Katie...will be in our lives in just 2 and a half months. Oh! Totally random...but I felt her kick last night. First time I've ever felt a baby kick. Anyway...I'll keep you all posted and let you know all about how my shower turns out. :)

Week from Hell
Well, if I get past this week without killing someone, it will be a miracle. This week is going to be an absolute nightmare and I'm not looking forward to it one bit.
So, today, I had to work my second job, however, I ended up getting off "early" at 10:00 pm! Woo! lol! My co-worker is out of town and I got so behind on work b/c of a bride who's wedding isn't until next week. She threw me an hour behind...an hour that I sorely needed back.
Tomorrow, I have to work until 8. My co-worker will not be there again.
Wednesday, it's my day off, so I'll get a little break, but I probably should clean my house. I'm having a baby shower for my SIL in 2 weeks and I won't be able to clean at all the weekend before it, as we're going to Chicago. Oh, and I'm sure I'll be recording my podcast that night.
Thursday, I have to get up early (at least 6 am!) so we can photograph the underclass for one of the schools we have and the way things are looking, probably work late. Hopefully, my co-worker will work the late shift that night...but if not, it's all me.
Friday, I have to get up early again for the same thing. Oh, and my co-worker is supposedly out of town again that day.
Saturday, I have a wedding I have to work, in which there's a wedding coordinator, who usually are pains in the asses!
I will be happier than a pig in mud by the time Sunday of next week comes. Please God, give me the strength to get through this week in one piece...or without completely snapping. So sorry for the lack of updates, but hopefully, once this week calms down, things will return to normal.

We've Made Some Changes
Well, it appears that we will not be taking our vacation this year to California. WHF didn't want to take that many days off work in a row. He was too worried about all the work he'd come back to.
So, instead, I booked our trip to WDW again instead! We're only going for a few days, vs. over a week, so, that will help WHF with his work situation.
No real plans have been squeaked out yet though on this trip. I do know we're going from Sept. 21-25. I know we'll be staying at Pop Century. I also know I want to visit the Adventurer's Club before it closes for good and that I'll be having dinner with my dear friends K and Marc, whom I went to visit a few months ago. (They'll be down there too!) I'm really considering hitting up Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party again, since we both really liked it the last time and we didn't get to experience it full out either!
Other than that, it looks like I've got some planning to do and I'd better get on it. I only have 49 days until we leave. Nothing like planning a trip last minute! (For me anyway!)
So, I'm going to Disney World!
