One Heck of a Month--Christmas

It has been one whirlwind of a month...I can't believe it's almost over. I mean wow...that went quickly! So, I guess it's time to tie up some loose ends.

Christmas, I personally thought was going to be a DISASTER!!!! I had to go to my grandma's this year on Christmas eve...which really threw a wrench in my Christmas. In the past few years, we've had Christmas pretty much whenever, but no...not this year...my aunt had Christmas eve off, so we had to do it that day. No budging on that. So, off we went to my Grandma's.

So, b/c of the rigidness of that, my Christmas with my family and WHF's family was really going to be messed up. But I'd come up with a plan. We'd do Christmas with my family in the morning and then go do Christmas with WHF's family that night, since my SIL had to work.

Well, another wrench got thrown in...WHF's grandparents had a problem a few days before, so WHF's dad had to rush up here, (a two hour drive) b/c he thought he was going to have to take Poppy to the hospital. Luckily, all ended up being fine...but, b/c of this, Christmas was now in the air b/c my FIL didn't want to drive back 2 hours and come back 2 days later.

Luckily we managed to figure everything out...so what happened was my family went to my grandma's house Christmas Eve...then we simply decided to open Christmas presents that night, esp. since my brother's boyfriend could make it that night.

So on Christmas Day, I got to take that morning easy and then WHF's family (minus my SIL, but my BIL did bring the baby) and I all went to the casino for lunch. It was a very relaxing time. The boys went and gambled and WHF's mom and I took the baby to the hotel lobby and sat by the fireplace and the big Christmas tree and watched Katie. It was so nice for us to get that quality time in with her.

Then we headed over to visit WHF's grandparents...and stayed there for about an hour.

Then we had to leave to go to dinner with my family. And since the night before my dad had bought a Wii for the whole family, we played Wii the rest of the night, which was a blast!

It really was a good Christmas...it was filled with lots of quality family time, which is what the holidays are about. I was just surprised with how smooth it really all went. Especially considering how frantic I'd felt about it the days leading up to it.
